This Year's Event |
The West Georgia 100 is an event hosted by cyclists, for cyclists, to benefit cyclists. Bicycling is a century old activity in Carroll County, and we want to ensure a safe and adventurous future for the next generation. Since last year, proceeds generated by the WG100 benefit the Carrollton Greenbelt Project. Volunteers from various civic groups and local business provide invaluable assistance organizing, promoting, and manning our rest stops. Mobile SAG support and a post-ride lunch/meal, good maps that are color coded to our road markings all make for a great event and we hope you can come and bring your frind and family. The community is proud to welcome riders from all over the Southeast to Carroll County! Our Greenbelt needs your help! The Carrollton Greenbelt Project will finally see groundbreaking in the summer of 2009. See also this [map]. It is a 15 mile multi-purpose trail circling Carrollton, GA. It is being funded at the state and federal level, and our event shall further supplement and publicize the facility. Your support is appreciated. All donations gratefully accepted. The West Georgia 100 is one of the best all around century rides in the South. Constantly rolling terrain makes for a moderate challenge for experienced cyclists, but the scenery and roads are fantastic. The WG100 has traditionally been a great preparatory ride for the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG), but this year BRAG backed up a week and crossed wheels with us. BRAG starts June 6. For 2009 we will have improved rest stops. Many of the same local people and sponsors are still involved, so participants can expect the same great support, same organization and attention to detail to which they have become accustomed. After all, it aint called Southern Hospitality for nothing !
